Origin - Bomkai sarees have a rich history that dates back to the 8th century and has been originated from a small picturesque village called Bomkai in Ganjam district in Odisha. The characteristic of this traditional Bomkal lies in stepping and shaft formula to weaver regular motifs remains the same in any composition. Uniqueness is that there is no fixed layout for the anchal panels brought out by extra wefts in various colours.
